Over the past 5 years, ilan Bluestone has been at the forefront of the trance & electronic music industry. Notching 10 #1 Beatport singles, touring some of the most iconic venues in the world, and being featured almost weekly in sets from artists to the likes of Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond, & Cosmic Gate, ilan is no stranger to success. Now today, ilan Bluestone has finally unleashed his debut studio album ‘Scars', out on Anjunabeats.
Reflecting his infectious personality, ilan Bluestone's long-awaited ’Scars’ album has been honed on the road and in the studio over the last twelve months. Marrying sensitive songwriting with his vintage spine-tingling melodies, this is a 15 track journey through the styles and sounds of the music that have influenced ilan’s life creatively.
The 15 track LP starts with 2 singles that we've already been graced with, ‘Scars' & ‘Frozen Ground' both vocalized by Bluestone and fan favorite Giuseppe De Luca. While ‘Scars' see's Bluestone step out a little bit with some heavy future bass elements, ‘Frozen Ground' was the progressive trance song of 2017. With smashing vocals and hard hitting bass lines, ‘Frozen Ground' is a clear favorite of mine from this album.
Next up is the funk-fueled club rocker ‘Everybody', 1 of the 2 massive collabs with Anjuna favorite Maor Levi. Having introduced ilan to the label in 2011 with ‘On Our Own’, it was only fitting that Maor Levi contributes two collaborations to the mix. The other collab ‘Will We Remain?’, was probably the most sought-after ID of the whole album featuring soulful vocals from London’s EL Waves over heavy basslines Bluestone fans have become accustomed to. A further pulsating dance floor moment sees ilan join forces with Sunny Lax for '43+86=129’, a mathematical play on the duos previous numerical solo tracks.
‘Guru’, ‘Not Alone’ and ‘Eclipse’ see ilan step out of his comfort zone for eclectic moments that despite their change in direction, still deliver the emotive punch of ilan’s sound.
‘Blue Angel‘ the 2nd to the last tune on this magical journey is probably my favorite track of the bunch. Coming in at a whopping 6 minutes long and featuring an absolutely mesmerizing vocal sample, ‘Blue Angel' in my opinion defines the sound of Bluestone – powerful, uplifting, groundbreaking, and most of all euphoric.
