A nightclub in Lincoln, a city in east-central England, is the first to engage in a new drug-testing initiative.
In a partnership with local authorities, Circle Nightclub has placed drug itemiser machines at the entrance the club, testing the hands those who hope to enter for illegal substances.
The drug itemiser implementation comes as a part the city’s new Operation Waiver, an initiative implemented by local authorities that will be expanding to other clubs in the city over the course the next few months.
Licensing Sergeant Kim Enderby went into detail about how the system works:
According to the Community Beat Sergeant from the city, the operation was “positive” and “everyone was happy to be swabbed and could see the benefits the operation.”
